Cuxhaven-Niederelbe Verlagsgesellschaft and alfa Media have been working together for more than 20 years. With the signing of the contract at the beginning of May 2020, the portfolio of alfa Open Media production and editorial system as well as the AdSuite ad management system currently in use will now be expanded to include two system-integrated digital solutions: alfa ePaper and alfa NewsApp will take the publisher’s offering on the reader market into a new, convenient dimension of digital media by the end of the second quarter of 2020.

“The situation created by Corona clearly shows us that, despite the current economic development, we must continue to optimize the transformation process of digitization as quickly as possible in order to maintain our acceptance among our loyal subscribers and readers as a competent media service provider and also to expand it into new target groups,” says CNV Managing Director Ralf Drossner. “Especially in these volatile times, there is a great need for credible news, which must be delivered to specific target groups with user-friendly technologies. Another positive effect of the integrated alfa system solution for us is the streamlining of technical processes”.

With alfa ePaper, Cuxhavener Nachrichten and Niederelbe-Zeitung have the ideal tool for fully automatic e-paper generation at hand and can offer users certain extras: Integrated inserts or special pages generate added value with additional linking options. Media attachments such as links, videos, audios and picture galleries can be added at any time. Responsive publishing ensures that news content is delivered in the best possible way – regardless of the device used.

An additional service for the readers is the provision of local content in a previous evening edition to be published at 8pm. In addition, a digital archive provides access to a wide range of interesting content at all times for all subscribers as well as for the editorial staff. All articles are summarized and made available in the RSS podcast feed. In the event that it is not possible to deliver the print edition, the new system solution allows easy access to alfa ePaper.

The publishing of content on the net includes in particular the provision of news on tablets and smartphones. alfa NewsApp is the comprehensive solution for optimizing these digital services. News can be updated at any time and enriched with multimedia services. An integrated news ticker is easy to configure individually and offers breaking news and RSS feeds as part of the current reporting. In addition to the multimedia and dynamic content, the e-paper can also be offered as a facsimile of the printed newspaper. A digital, page-turning integration of the printed inserts and brochures is also easily possible.
